About Squatch Reports

Squatch Reports is a field database of Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and other cryptid sightings, built for research and education rather than as a claim that any of these creatures have been scientifically confirmed. We catalogue reports, plot them on a map, and rate the evidence behind each one so visitors can judge credibility for themselves instead of taking any single account at face value.

Where sighting data comes from

The site draws on two distinct sources, and we label them separately so it's always clear which one you're looking at:

BFRO live feed — reports pulled from the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization database, the longest-running Bigfoot sighting archive in the U.S. These reports go through BFRO's own investigation and classification process before we display them; we don't re-verify them ourselves.

Community submissions — sightings submitted directly through this site's report form. These are unverified unless explicitly marked otherwise: we run basic checks (duplicate detection, a submission cooldown) to slow down spam, but we do not independently investigate or confirm witness accounts.

On the sightings map, BFRO points and community-submitted points are shown in different colors so the two sources are never conflated.

How we rate evidence

Every cryptid profile carries an evidence tier from 1 to 5, describing the strongest type of evidence reported for that species — not a probability that it exists:

• Tier 1: Anecdotal
• Tier 2: Physical Traces
• Tier 3: Photo / Video
• Tier 4: Multiple Witnesses
• Tier 5: Verified Evidence

A higher tier means more substantial evidence was reported, not that a sighting has been scientifically validated — even Tier 5 ("Verified Evidence") reflects the strongest evidence claimed for a species within cryptozoology, not peer-reviewed proof recognized by mainstream science.
